The first decorated Christmas tree was documented over 500 years ago—men of the local merchants’ guild in Riga, Latvia, decorated a tree with artificial roses, danced around it in the marketplace and then set fire to it. The rose was used for many years in celebrations and is considered to be a symbol for the Virgin Mary. That was the year 1510.
Today, we celebrate the birth of Christ in many ways and with many traditions, but one that never fails to excite the whole family is the tradition of selecting the perfect Christmas tree to decorate in our home.
